Newbie to Blogging

Hi all,

I'm new to blogging. But excited to have my own blogspot now. I never even had a diary growing up (or even now for that matter). So this is all new to me.

We are a christian family living in East Texas. We love it here... all the trees and rolling hills. It's absolutely beautiful. Although my husband missed the snow. We do occassionally get snow. We've been married for 19 yrs. now. We have 2 children ages 8 (son) and 6 (daughter). I homeschool our children. We are in our 4th year of homeschooling.

We will be planting a garden again this year. We didn't plant one last year, but we did the year before. We had so many tomatoes and spinach. We ended up canning tomatoes for the first time. Although it was time consuming it was fun. And boy, those were some good canned tomatoes that we added to different dishes. YUM!!! Here in the next few weeks we plan on getting out there and getting the garden area ready. The first part of Feb. and already getting it ready. Because we don't get those real cold winters we can plant early. When we first moved here 5 1/2 yrs. ago I couldn't believe that by the mid to end of Feb. the plants and trees were coming back to life from the winter.

I love knitting. I've been knitting for a couple of years now. I have knitted scarves, a couple children's ponchos, a pillow, and a sweater for my son. I have knitted a few socks, but either the 2nd one doesn't match or something goes wrong with the first one. So I have attempted to start on another sock. The goal I've set for myself is to conquer socks this year. I would love to learn all of the ways to knit a sock... regular one at a time on double pointed needles (DPNS), 2 at a time on 2 circular needles, 2 at a time on the Magic Loop (one set of longer circular needles), and then also to learn to knit socks from the toe up. So I've got my work cut out for me.

I also love, love, love reading books set in pioneer times.

So my blogs will be about the above... family, homeschooling, gardening, knitting, and reading. I hope you enjoy the entries and come back for more. :-) God bless you.

-Yvonne
